January 2023: Stage 4 Tour Down Under
Stage 6 is a favourite for the spectators and is heralded as the 'Queen' stage of the Santos Tour Down Under - and 2023 will be no different. The Tour passes Mulberry Lodge 4 times during the race. McLaren Vale and Willunga are in party mode during the race, with the peloton passing the Mulberry Lodge front gate 4 times before heading for iconic Willunga Hill.. Fans flock roadside to cheer on their heroes in what is often the deciding stage of the Santos Tour Down Under. Celebrating all things Chilli ! Chilli Fest Willunga is held at the beginning of February each year starting in the Festival Hall and including the Show Halls and the adjoining outdoor area. Coinciding with the monthly Quarry Market, as well as the weekly Farmers Market and Green Light Organic Market. On site in the halls, there will be live music, stalls and various chilli-related demonstrations, such as cooking with chillies, how to grow them, and even how to use them in floral art. On the northern side next to the Show Hall there will be a shaded beer garden, where visitors can enjoy local beer and wine and chilli inspired food. The main parade of cars start down the main street of McLaren Vale from 12 noon. View the incredible range of vehicles driving past; cars, vans, and motorbikes with a flyover by vintage Biplanes. The drivers then head out to participating wineries to display their vehicles for the afternoon, picnicking and enjoying the facilities. The Willunga Almond Blossom Festival is held every year in the last week of July, just as it has been since 1969. Since that very first festival, over 40 years ago, more than $1million has been raised for the Willunga Recreation Park and the associated sporting and community clubs. There is entertainment galore for all ages, show rides, food stalls, markets and so much more.
Set in Willunga, the festival presents a weekend of music concerts and sessions, dance, workshops, poetry, special youth program, children`s entertainment and stalls - in fact there`s something for the whole family! You can bring an instrument and join in the sessions or step on stage at a blackboard concert. Why not kick up your heels at the bush dance. Take your time and browse around the craft stalls and the Saturday Farmers` Market.
